Network Monitoring Lab
We analyze terabits per second of live backbone traffic to understand, secure, and improve the Internet.
Then Network Traffic Monitoring Lab at FIT CTU Prague is a research group embedded in the operations of CESNET, the Czech national research and education network.
We work at the intersection of network security, high-performance computing, big data, machine learning, and AI.
Open Data & Tools
We believe in open science. Our datasets and software are available to the research community:
- CESNET-TimeSeries24 — Time series dataset for anomaly detection and forecasting
- CESNET-TLS22 — 42GB of labeled TLS 1.3 encrypted traffic
- IPFIXcol2 — High-performance IPFIX collector
- NEMEA — Modular stream analysis framework
- CESNET-DataZoo — Standardized datasets for traffic ML

Partners
We collaborate closely with:
- CESNET — Operator of the Czech NREN, primary research partner
- Czech universities — Collaborative research on network security
- International collaboration - Collaborative research & Knowledge sharing
- Industry partners — Technology transfer and applied research
The lab evolved from a hardware/FPGA focus to emphasize software tools, large-scale data analysis, and security research. Our work directly supports the security operations of the Czech academic network.
